Malacañang declares half-day work on Holy Wednesday

In observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on March 28-29, 2024, government employees across the nation are granted full opportunity to honor these significant religious days. To facilitate their travel and observance, work in government offices on March 27, 2024, is hereby suspended from 12:00 PM onwards.

It is noted that agencies responsible for delivering essential services such as basic healthcare, disaster response, and other vital functions will remain operational to ensure continuity in public service.

The decision regarding work suspension in private companies and offices is at the discretion of their respective employers.

This memorandum is effective immediately.

MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 45

To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on 28-29 March 2024 and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country, work in government offices on 27 March 2024 is hereby suspended from 12:00 o'clock in the afternoon onwards.

However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.

The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the sound discretion of their respective employers.

This Circular shall take effect immediately.
