Key Stage 4 (Senior High School) Three-Term Electronic Class Record

Key Stage 4 (Senior High School) Three-Term Electronic Class Record

The shift to the Trimester System for SY 2026-2027 brings significant changes to how we track and compute Senior High School grades. In SHS, where subjects are highly specialized and often lead to immersion or technical certification, having a reliable Electronic Class Record (ECR) is non-negotiable.

Today, we are sharing a specialized Key Stage 4 Three-Term ECR designed specifically to handle the unique weight distributions of SHS Core, Applied, and Specialized subjects.

What Makes the SHS Three-Term ECR Different?

Unlike the lower key stages, SHS subjects vary greatly in their assessment needs. This ECR is pre-programmed to toggle between different subject requirements:

  • Core and Academic Electives: Balanced at 20% WW, 50% PT, and 30% ST-TE.
  • Specialized Track Subjects: Heavier emphasis on Performance Tasks (up to 70% or 80% for Work Immersion).
  • Research & Innovation: Specialized 40/60 split for Research-heavy electives.
  • Automated SHS Transmutation: Uses the specific SHS grading scale to ensure the 75% passing mark is accurately reflected.

Revised SHS Grading Weights

Following the latest DepEd directives for the three-term transition, this ECR automates the following distributions:

SHS Subject Group Written Works (WW) Performance Tasks (PT) Summative Tests & Term Exam (STs-TE)
Core Subjects / Academic Electives 20% 50% 30%
Field Exposure / Apprenticeship 15% 70% 15%
Arts, Sports, Health Electives 20% 60% 20%
Research & Design Electives 40% 60% -
TechPro Electives 15% 65% 20%
Work Immersion 20% 80% -

Key Features for SHS Teachers

  1. Term-End Flexibility: Designed for the 15-day and 30-day summative intervals, fitting the fast-paced SHS curriculum.
  2. Work Immersion Ready: A dedicated tab for immersion subjects where the Term Exam is waived in favor of intensive Performance Task evaluation.
  3. Summary of Grades: Provides a clear summary that is easy to bridge into the Learner Information System (LIS).
  4. Locked Formulas: We've secured the calculation cells to prevent accidental deletions of complex nested formulas.
This tool is free to use and modify for your personal classroom needs. We’ve ensured it meets the rigor required for SHS auditing and monitoring.

Final Thoughts

The transition to three terms in Senior High School can be daunting, given the density of the curriculum. My goal in creating this ECR was to take the mathematical burden off your shoulders so you can focus on preparing our learners for their next steps—whether that's higher education, employment, or entrepreneurship.
