Release of ₱7,000 Clothing Allowance for DepEd Personnel

Release of ₱7,000 Clothing Allowance for DepEd Personnel

The Department of Education (DepEd) personnel will receive their annual clothing allowance, amounting to ₱7,000, not earlier than the first working day of April of the current year,

According to DepEd Memorandum No. 028, s. 2025, signed by Secretary Sonny Angara, the release of the allowance is contingent upon the availability of the Notice of Cash Allocation from the Department of Budget and Management (SBM), and is subject to standard accounting and auditing procedures. This financial assistance is intended to ease the burden on DepEd personnel as they adapt to the newly mandated uniform guidelines.

The release coincides with the DepEd's announcement of new national uniform designs, detailed in the same memorandum. The new uniforms, set to be implemented fully by School Year 2026-2027, are designed to comply with Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2024, which outlines the revised dress code for government officials and employees.

The transition period, starting in SY 2025-2026, allows personnel to gradually acquire the new uniforms while utilizing their existing attire.

The memorandum emphasizes that only the approved national uniforms are permitted, eliminating regional and division-specific uniforms to maintain uniformity across all DepEd offices and schools. Personnel must also wear their prescribed identification (ID) cards at all times during official duties.

However, certain personnel are exempted from wearing the prescribed uniforms, including those whose job nature necessitates alternative attire (e.g., medical personnel, laboratory staff), those with religious or health-related requirements, pregnant employees, and those in mourning or responding to emergencies.

The DepEd has stressed the importance of adhering to the guidelines and ensuring that the allowance is used appropriately to acquire the prescribed uniforms. The department has also called for the immediate dissemination of the memorandum to all concerned personnel.
