Class Suspensions for Monday, August 24, 2026

Present Weather Conditions
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to bring persistent rain showers and severe thunderstorms across vast portions of Luzon. According to the state weather bureau PAGASA, monsoon rains threaten low-lying and mountainous areas with localized flash flooding and landslides. Meteorologists are also tracking Typhoon Saudel outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which is forecasted to enter PAR on Monday, August 24, potentially intensifying the monsoon rainfall further over the coming days.


Running List of Areas with Class Suspensions

Due to the inclement weather and flooding risks, several local government units have declared suspensions of face-to-face classes for Monday, August 24, 2026:

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)

  • Abra: Province-wide — No face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private schools (shifting to alternative learning modalities). Government offices will also adopt alternative work arrangements.
  • Benguet:
    • Atok: No face-to-face classes from Pre-School to Senior High School, both public and private (shifting to alternative learning modalities).

Central Luzon (Region III)

  • Pampanga:
    • Santo Tomas: Face-to-face classes suspended in all levels, public and private, for the entire week (August 24 to August 28, 2026). Schools are instructed to implement alternative learning modes.
