CSC Grants Career Service Eligibility to Long-Serving Government Workers
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced a new policy that will grant career service eligibility to specific groups of workers in government agencies based on their length of service and work performance. This policy aims to recognize the valuable contributions of these workers and provide them with opportunities for regularization and promotion.
The eligible groups include Job Order (JO), Contract of Service (COS), Casual, Contractual, Coterminous employees, those holding Category III and Category IV positions, and Career Service employees with first-level eligibility (collectively known as JOCOSC6).
To qualify, these workers must meet the following criteria:
• Length of Service: They must have served in their current position for at least five years.
• Work Performance: They must have a satisfactory or higher performance rating in the last two years.

The CSC will grant additional points to these workers' failed Career Service Examination (CSE) rating, allowing them to meet the minimum passing score. This policy will take effect on February 12, 2024.

Nograles expressed the Commission's commitment to recognizing the contributions of long-serving government workers and providing them with opportunities for career advancement. He emphasized that this policy aligns with the government's goal of improving the quality of public service.
