TDC assures PBB 2022, 2023 unaffected by EO 61

TDC assures PBB 2022,  2023 unaffected by EO 61

In a statement released today, Benjo Basas, National Chairman of the Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC), assured teachers that the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for 2022 and 2023 will not be affected by Executive Order (EO) 61. The EO, which took effect in June 2024, has raised concerns among educators regarding its potential impact on the PBB.

Basas clarified that while the PBB will not be immediately impacted, the TDC has always viewed the PBB scheme as flawed and unfair. He emphasized that the current system often burdens teachers with excessive reporting requirements, hindering their focus on teaching.

As part of their 13-Point Teachers' Dignity Agenda, the TDC proposes replacing the Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) with the Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (PAST). This change aims to create a fairer evaluation system that prioritizes teacher well-being. Additionally, the TDC advocates for equitable performance bonuses and increased focus on incentives like the Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI) and the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI).

Basas encouraged teachers to stay tuned for the TDC's official position on the matter, which will be discussed in a live stream on the TDC's Facebook page, YouTube channel, and his TikTok account.

The TDC remains committed to advocating for teachers' rights and ensuring fair compensation and recognition for their invaluable contributions to education.
