Computation of Public School Teachers' Proportional Vacation Pay for SY 2019-2020

The Department of Education (DepED) issues DepEd Memorandum No. 049 s. 2020 titled Computation of Public School Teachers' Proportional Vacation Pay for SY 2019-2020 that provides a uniform basis for the Computation of the Proportional Vacation Pay (PVP) for School Year (SY) 2019-2020.

This is to provide the field offices with a uniform basis for the computation of the PVP for SY 2019-2020 for all public elementary and secondary teachers under the teacher’s leave basis.

PVP refers to the compensation of teaching personnel during Christmas and summer vacation computed in proportion to the number of days served during the school year. The compensation the teachers receive during April and May are called PVP.

PVP is computed depending on the number of school days and number of schools days and leave of absence.

For SY 2019-2020. each of the teachers who have rendered continuous service from June 3, 2019 to April 3, 2020 shall be entitled to 80 days total of PVP from Summer and Christmas vacation days, computed as follows:

Total Number of days served from June 3, 2016 to April 3, 2020 = 306 days
Less: Number of Christmas vacation days earned from December 15, 2019 to January 5, 2020 = -22 days
Actual Days Served = 284 days
Multiply factor = x 0.282
Total PVP earned from the number of Summer and Christmas vacation days = 80 days
Less: Number of Christmas vacation days = -22 days
Number of Summer vacation days earned from April 4 to May 31, 2020 = 58 days

Factor 0.282 shall be used for the computation of absences and Proportional Vacation Pay.

Below is the derivation of factor 0.282.

Number of Summer vacation days = 58 days
Add: Christmas Vacation Number of Days = +22 days
Total PVP =80 days

(Summer and Christmas Vacation Days)
Divided by Number of Actual Days Served = 284 days
Multiply factor = x 0.282
