DM No. 044 s 2026 - Results of the National Assessment for School Heads for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 (Batch 2)

The Department of Education (DepEd) has officially released the results of the National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) for Fiscal Year 2025 (Batch 2), marking a significant step in identifying and developing the country's next generation of school leaders.

According to DepEd Memorandum No. 044, s. 2026, issued today, the assessment saw an impressive 99.39% completion rate. Out of the 23,994 registered examinees, 23,848 successfully finished the rigorous evaluation conducted simultaneously across 65 testing sites nationwide last May 17, 2026, via the DepEd Learning Management System (LMS).

The NASH is a critical developmental assessment tool designed to evaluate the conceptual understanding and situational critical thinking skills of aspiring public school heads. It aligns strictly with the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) to ensure leadership readiness.

Performance Breakdown

The results, determined through a multi-level quantitative analysis called the Ordinal Partial Credit Model, categorized the examinees into three distinct competency levels:

  • Meeting PPSSH Standards in Four Domains (25.91%): A total of 6,180 examinees achieved an overall score of 65 or higher, alongside scores of at least 65 in four specific domains. These individuals are now prospective candidates for entry-level School Principal positions, subject to standard DepEd hiring guidelines.

  • Meeting PPSSH Standards in Three Domains (10.86%): Securing 65 or higher overall and in three specific domains, 2,591 examinees are also prospective candidates for principal positions. However, they are required to participate in a Targeted Development Program (TDP) facilitated by the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) within three months of appointment to address their specific areas for improvement.

  • With Developmental Areas (63.22%): The majority of the takers, totaling 15,077 educators, scored below 65 overall or met the passing mark in fewer than three domains. To progress, these aspiring leaders must undertake Professional Interventions (PDI) by NEAP and complete a certified Work Application Plan (WAP) before they can be considered for a School Principal I position.

Next Steps for Examinees

Examinees can now access their Individual Certificate of Rating (ICOR) through their registered DepEd LMS accounts. The Department advises participants to ensure their position titles are accurately updated in their profile sections.

To further celebrate regional excellence, DepEd also published the master list of Regional Top Performers alongside the memorandum, highlighting top-scoring educators from regions across the country, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and others.

The full guidelines and procedures regarding the required Targeted Development Programs (TDP) and Professional Interventions (PDI) will be issued separately by NEAP in the coming weeks.

By utilizing the NASH to gather baseline competency data, DepEd aims to continuously tailor its professional development programs, ensuring that future school heads are fully equipped to perform their vital roles in shaping the Philippine educational landscape.
