Good news about SRI for FY 2025
Good news about SRI for FY 2025
The most-anticipated Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for Fiscal Year 2025 has moved substantially closer to approval, confirming the government's intention to disburse the benefit this year.
This development was initiated when the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) formally transmitted a request, along with a draft Administrative Order (AO), to Malacañang for the President's approval and issuance. The news was shared by Sir Benjo Basas, the National Chairperson of the Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC), in a recent social media update, providing a much-needed assurance to government workers who had been concerned about the fate of the annual incentive due to broader budget uncertainties.
Basas specifically emphasized that the DBM's action strongly indicates that the government has the necessary fiscal capacity to release the SRI, contrary to earlier fears that a tightening budget would affect the distribution. He further reinforced the expectation of the incentive's release by noting that the SRI has been a regular annual benefit for eligible employees since its introduction in 2019, establishing a strong precedent for its continuation.
The TDC chairperson concluded by expressing optimism that the Office of the President would soon act on the request, viewing the submission as a clear indication that the government is fully able and willing to provide the necessary incentives to its personnel. Past issuances for the SRI, such as in 2024, set the incentive at a uniform rate not exceeding \text{P20,000} for qualified employees, and the final amount for 2025 will be officially confirmed upon the President's signing of the Administrative Order.
