Pres. Marcos to authorize grant of Service Recognition Incentive (SRI)

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to authorize a one-time Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for all government employees, according to an announcement from Malacañang on Friday.

During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the President is anticipated to sign the necessary document soon to officially release the bonus.

When questioned about the exact date for the disbursement of the SRI, Castro said to the public to "Let's wait" (or Hintayin po natin). She assured government personnel, however, that the Palace would share the "good news" as soon as the official document is made public.

The SRI is a one-time financial bonus granted by the Philippine government to eligible public servants, typically at the end of the year. Authorized by the President through an Administrative Order, the SRI serves to recognize and reward the collective and invaluable contributions of government workers in the successful delivery of public services.

Taking the SRI 2024 as a recent example, this incentive was authorized by Administrative Order No. 27, s. 2024, setting a maximum rate of \text{P20,000}. To be eligible for the full amount, an employee must have rendered at least four months of satisfactory service and remain in government service as of November 30 of the year; however, the actual rate can be lower across agencies, as the final amount is contingent upon the sufficiency of the agency's available funds.

Employees who have rendered less than the required four months of service are entitled to a pro-rated share of the incentive, which, for the 2024 example, was P8,000. for three to less than four months of service, P6,000 for two to less than three months, P4,000 for one to less than two months, and \P2,000 for less than one month. Individuals under job orders or contracts of service are generally excluded from receiving the SRI.
