Duterte promises teachers' pay hike will be more than 30K
President Rodrigo Duterte assured that the promised salary increase for public school teachers will be granted within the year.

The President said Sunday he is expecting a wage hike for teachers higher than that of members of the Philippine National Police, whose salaries doubled in 2018.

“It’s coming, ang increases nila but hindi double. Mas marami ang teacher. Nandiyan po dadating ‘yan,” he said a press conference in Davao City during his return from Russia.

Asked on how much the teachers would receive, he said the government discussed raising it to P35,000 or more.
“I think it’s about… the last time discussing, 35. It could be more. I don’t know,” Duterte added.
.The president added he will not give a definite timeline for the increase.
“If I give you the timeline tapos I could not make it on the deadline, I have to explain more than what is expected of government. Mas mabuti kung nandyan na. Basta sinasabi ko may increase this year, I am very sure of that.”
