DBM approves Php2,000 honoraria increase for 2025 poll workers

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved a Php2,000 increase in the honoraria of teachers and other poll workers who will serve during the local and national elections on Monday, May 12, 2025.

"As directed by our beloved President Bongbong Marcos, finally, our teachers and poll workers will receive a Php2,000 across the board increase on their compensation for the 2025 midterm elections," stated DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

According to Secretary Pangandaman, this increase is in accordance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive, acknowledging the hard work and sacrifices of teachers and poll workers during elections.

"We are aware of the fatigue, sleepless nights, and sacrifices our teachers and poll workers endure while safeguarding our votes. When the President instructed us to increase their benefits, we did not hesitate," said Secretary Pangandaman.

She emphasized that these individuals face significant strain during every election in the country.

"This is a realization of the directive of President BBM, who is truly committed to ensuring we provide needed support for the welfare of our teachers," added Secretary Pangandaman.

The new honoraria rates for the electoral board are as follows:
• Php12,000 for the Chairperson
• Php11,000 for the poll clerk and 3rd member
• Php8,000 for the support staff

Secretary Pangandaman urged the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and other government agencies to ensure the prompt release of these benefits to the teachers and poll workers.

"I urge Comelec to ensure that our teachers and poll workers will get their compensation as quickly as possible. Dapat timely ang release ng kanilang benepisyo. They deserve nothing less," Secretary Pangandaman emphasized.
