Duterte on opening of classes: "Para sa akin bakuna muna"

President Rodrigo Duterte in his televised address, May 25, said he would not allow the opening of classes if students would crowd inside a classroom and unless they are safe.

"Yang opening ng classes, I will not allow the opening of classes na magdikit-dikit ang mga bata," the president said.

"Bahala na hindi na makatapos, for this generation wala ng makatapos na doktor pati engineer, wala ng aral, laro na lang," Duterte added.

“It’s useless to be talking about the opening of classes. Para sa akin, bakuna muna. Pag nandyan ang bakuna, okay na." he said.

The Department of Education (DepEd) earlier said that classes for school year 2020 to 2021 will open, physically or virtually, on August 24.
