House approves 2020 budget on 3rd and final reading


The House of Representatives on Friday approved the proposed P4.1-trillion 2020 national budget bill on its third and final reading, after only nine days of plenary discussions. The budget got a vote 257-6, without any abstention.



"We have passed a quality people’s budget in record time," sai Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.

It's first time in history that budget bills are passed not earlier than October.
This budget took took only 20 working days within a period of 30 days to be approved in mid-September.

Here's the top 10 agencies alloted with the highest appropriation:
Department of Education (DepEd), P673 billion
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), P534.3 billion
Department of the Interior and Local Government(DILG), P238 billion
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), P195 billion
Department of National Defense, P189 billion
Department of Health (DOH), P166.5 billion
Department of Transportation (DOT), P147 billion
Department of Agriculture (DA), P93.1 billion
The Judiciary, P38.7 billion
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), P26.4 billion
