DepEd issues advisory for FY 2026 Teaching Allowance payment
The Department of Education (DepEd) has officially released instructions regarding the processing and payment of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Teaching Allowance for eligible public school teachers.
According to Memorandum DM-OUHRODI-2026-1824, signed on May 20, 2026, the following key details have been established for the distribution of the allowance:
- Payment Amount: Eligible teachers are set to receive a Teaching Allowance of Ten Thousand Pesos (Php 10,000.00).
- Release Date: Implementing units with available cash allocation are authorized to process and release the payment not earlier than June 8, 2026, which aligns with the formal start of the school year.
- Tax Status: The Teaching Allowance is not subject to income tax.
- Processing Guidelines:
- Regional Offices are tasked with ensuring that allotments are promptly processed and released to Schools Division Offices (SDOs).
- SDOs may download the funds to Implementing Unit (IU) schools where practical.
- School Heads must validate and certify the list of qualified recipients in accordance with the provisions of DepEd Order (DO) No. 005, s. 2025.
- Finance Officers are required to maintain complete documentation for monitoring and audit purposes.
