Grant of Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) 2024
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to collaborate on increasing the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for public school teachers.
The government plans to raise the SRI from ₱18,000 to ₱20,000 for approximately 1,011,800 DepEd personnel, acknowledging their vital role in shaping the country's youth.
The SRI is an annual incentive given to government employees to reward their dedication to public service. President Marcos has tasked the DBM and DepEd to identify budgetary solutions to implement the increase by December 2024 while considering fiscal constraints.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed the move, calling it a morale boost for teachers and highlighting its importance in supporting educators' contributions to nation-building.
“This initiative underscores our shared goal of empowering teachers and reinforcing their critical role in shaping the future of Filipino learners,” said Angara.
Details on the rollout and funding will be announced once finalized.
