DBM confirms implementation of First Tranche of Salary Standardization Law VI in 2024

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that the first tranche of salary increases for government employees will soon be implemented under Executive Order No. 64, titled "Updating the Salary Schedule for Civilian Government Personnel and Authorizing the Grant of an Additional Allowance, and For Other Purposes."

Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman confirmed that the implementation will begin within the year, with salary adjustments retroactive to January 1, 2024. She assured that the implementing guidelines are being expedited to ensure employees see their first salary increases in 2024.

"With this EO, we can now roll out the first tranche of SSL VI. We will rush the implementing guidelines so that government employees will see their first round of salary increases this 2024," Pangandaman stated.

The DBM secretary also assured employees would receive a salary differential or back pay due to the retroactive application.

"Ang computation po para sa initial tranche natin ay retroactive to January 1, 2024, so merong salary differential or back pay," Pangandaman added.

President Ferdinand Marcos has approved Executive Order No. 64, which raises the salaries of government employees and provides an additional allowance. The order, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on August 2, 2024, will be implemented in four tranches: the first beginning on January 1, 2024; the second on January 1, 2025; the third on January 1, 2026; and the fourth on January 1, 2027.
