Pres. Marcos Jr. to sign into Law P10,000 Annual Teaching Supplies Allowance for Public School Teachers

President Marcos Jr. to sign P10,000 Teaching Supplies Allowance or "Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act," granting annual allowances to public school teachers.

On Monday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. will sign a measure that provides public school teachers with an annual allowance of P10,000, beginning next year, to help cover the costs of purchasing their own teaching supplies.

The proposed "Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo (Support for Teaching) Act," derived from Senate Bill No. 1964, will initially grant an allowance of P5,000 per teacher for the school year 2024-2025. This amount will increase to P10,000 starting in the school year 2025-2026 and will continue at that amount annually.

The P5,000 will be charged to the DepEd and the succeeding amounts will be included in the national government’s annual budget. The said allowance is not taxable.

The ceremonial re-enactment of the signing into law of this act is set for June 3, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Malacañan Palace, underscoring the administration's commitment to supporting educators and improving the educational system in the Philippines.
