DepEd may release April salary loan deductions back to employees

“We may also release the loan payments due this April back to employees since hindi pa remitted sa PLIs ang payments for April.”

“All implementing units in the government, not just DepEd, will adjust the payroll database and system and coordinate with the PLIs involved.”

The Department of Education (DepEd) through Usec. Annalyn M. Sevilla, Undersecretary for Finance, in her Facebook post provided an update on the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for the 30-day mandatory grace period of all loans falling due within the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine. This is in relation to the rules on mandatory 30-day grace period for loans falling due within Luzon quarantine issued by Department of Finance (DOF).

Sevilla shared in her FB post that “bank, quasi-banks, financing firms, lending companies, and other financial institutions both private and public including the Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, and Pag-IBIG Fund were directed to implement a 30-day minimum grace period for the payment of all loans.”

She also added that “the loans include, but are not limited to salary, personal, housing, and motor vehicle loans, as well as credit card payments falling due within the period of enhanced community quarantine — March 17 to April 13 — “without incurring interests, penalties, fees, or other charges.”

“As DepEd employees, and specially as teachers, let’s maintain our DIGNITY and RESPECT for self and others.”

“Sa lahat ng empleyado ng gobyerno, DepEd pa Lang ata ang nakapag process at nakapagbayad na ng whole month of APRIL salary kahit April 1 pa lang. Dahil yan sa malasakit at pag alala ng kagawaran para sa ating mga guro at tagapamahala ng mga opisina at eskwelahan.”

“Because we aimed to be proactive and responsive to the needs of our deped employees to prepare for the ECQ, the april payroll was processed with deductions and loan payments due per employee. The Bayanihan Law and its IRR came much later after we processed the April payroll. The IRR on the moratorium on loan payments will be effective April 2, 2020.”

“All implementing units in the government, not just DepEd, will adjust the payroll database and system and coordinate with the PLIs involved. Mag orient pa sa lahat ng finance officers nationwide to explain procedures on how to implement this DOF and BSP issuances. if we apply this in the april payroll, baka sa MAY nyo pa makuha ang April salary nyo. so ano po mas acceptable sa inyo? maaga na sahod o hintayin na maayos ang lahat para hindi muna ma deduct ang loan payments nyo ng April? anyway, mag uusap pa ang involved offices dito - personnel, finance, IT and admin. maghintay muna ng policy cover on this.”

“We may also release the loan payments due this April back to employees since hindi pa remitted sa PLIs ang payments for April. Let’s trust the people who work for you while you are in ECQ. Magtulungan po tayo at rumespeto sa sistema at proseso na mayroon tayo.”
