DepEd clarifies October 31, 2019 is not a holiday

As of this writing, there is no official declarations from the government, especially from the Office of the President (OP), that October 31 is considered a non-working holiday.

Recently, an infographic stating October 31 as a non working holiday circulated in the web. This infographic was posted by Department of Education (DepEd) last October 2017.  This infographic also indicates "No classess" on Nov. 13-15 and Nov. 16-17.

Annalyn M. Sevilla, DepED Undersecretary for Finance-Budget and Performance Monitoring, clarified through a post in her Facebook account on October 28, " Clarification: This infographics of “NO CLASSES” on Nov 13-15 and 16-17” is from an OLD DepED Phil FB post. The old post is for the 2017 ASEAN Summit held in 2017... not for this year (2019). Please be guided accordingly. Thank you."

A netizen commented, "Thanks mam pero may pasok po ba tayo sa October 31?"  [Thanks mam but do we have classes on October 31?]

Sevilla answered, " Yes per DepEd calendar. But let’s wait if OP will issue/declare it as a holiday on Oct 31. Let’s wait."

However, work and classes in several areas and schools were already suspended from October 31 to November 02, 2019, in observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
