Walang Pasok: Areas with Classes Suspended for World Teachers' Day 2026

Walang Pasok: Areas with Classes Suspended for World Teachers' Day 2026

As the country honors the hard work and dedication of its teachers, several Local Government Units (LGUs) across the Philippines have officially declared a suspension of classes in celebration of National Teachers' Day and World Teachers' Day.

The localized suspensions aim to provide teachers with the necessary time to rest, celebrate, and actively participate in various activities dedicated to the teaching profession.

Students, parents, and guardians are advised to take note of the following areas where class suspensions have been confirmed by their respective local chief executives and school administrations:

Class Suspensions for Monday, October 5, 2026:

  • Bais City, Negros Oriental: Classes at all levels in both public and private schools are suspended.

Areas with Earlier Suspensions (Friday, October 2, 2026):

Note: The following areas opted to suspend classes on Friday, October 2, to give teachers and students a long weekend for the celebrations.

  • Baguio City: Classes were suspended in accordance with a city ordinance that designates the first Friday of October as the city's Official Teachers' Day.
  • Angeles City, Pampanga: Classes in public schools under the SDO were suspended on Friday.
  • Palo, Leyte: Classes at all levels in public and private schools were suspended.
  • San Jose, Tarlac: Classes in all levels in public and private schools within the municipality were suspended.

Important Reminder on Republic Act No. 10743

The public is reminded that under Republic Act No. 10743, October 5 is officially designated as National Teachers' Day and a special working holiday. Because it is a working holiday, class suspensions are not implemented automatically on a nationwide scale.

Suspensions rely strictly on the discretion of specific LGU executive orders or official directives from school administrations. Students and parents in areas not included in the list above should assume that regular classes will proceed unless a local advisory is issued.

This is a developing story. Please refresh this page for further updates and announcements from other LGUs.
