DepEd suspends CB-NCAE Technical Assessment and Test Administration iver cybersecurity culnerabilities
The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Education Assessment (BEA), has ordered the temporary suspension of the Technical Assessment and actual Test Administration of the Computer-Based National Career Assessment Examination (CB-NCAE) for School Year 2026–2027.
Issued under BEA Advisory No. 028, s. 2026 on October 29, 2026, the directive applies to all concerned public and government-recognized private secondary schools, taking effect immediately upon issuance until further notice.
According to the advisory signed by BEA Director IV Kevin Carl P. Santos, PhD, the suspension was prompted by recent cybersecurity alerts from the National Computer Emergency Response Team of the Philippines (CERT-PH). Specifically, CERT-PH Cybersecurity Advisories CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 identified system vulnerabilities that could allow unauthenticated remote code execution.
In response to these threats, DepEd’s Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) temporarily suspended access to selected DepEd online systems, including the learning portal (https://learning.deped.gov.ph) used to administer the CB-NCAE.
The bureau noted that further updates regarding the new examination schedule will be announced in a separate advisory and called for immediate dissemination and compliance.
