Comelec proposes P2,000 honoraria increase, 10 service credits for teachers in the 2025 Elections.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced plans to increase the honoraria and allowances for teachers serving as poll workers in the upcoming 2025 national and local elections.

Proposed Compensation Enhancements:

Honoraria Increase:

An additional ₱2,000 will be added to the current honoraria for teachers serving on election day.

Transportation Allowance:

A proposed transportation allowance of ₱1,000 is being considered to support teachers' travel expenses on election day.

Service Credits:
The number of service credits for teachers is set to double from 5 to 10 days.

If the proposed increases for teachers serving as poll workers in the 2025 elections are approved, the total compensation package would be as follows:

𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮:
▪︎ Chairperson of the Electoral Board: ₱9,000 (current) + ₱2,000 (proposed increase) = ₱11,000

▪︎ Members of the Electoral Board: ₱8,000 (current) + ₱2,000 (proposed increase) = ₱10,000

▪︎ DepED Supervisor Official (DESO): ₱7,000 (current) + ₱2,000 (proposed increase) = ₱9,000

▪︎ Support Staff: ₱5,000 (current) + ₱2,000 (proposed increase) = ₱7,000

𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀:
▪︎ Transportation Allowance: An additional ₱1,000 is proposed for election day.

▪︎ Communication Allowance:
DESO and their technical support staff are entitled to ₱1,500.

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀:
▪︎ The number of service credits is proposed to increase from 5 to 10 days.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia emphasized the necessity of these increases, stating that the additional responsibilities and extended working hours during elections warrant better compensation for teachers. He also highlighted the importance of securing the necessary budget to implement these enhancements effectively.
