DepEd to pilot MATATAG K-10 curriculum on September 25

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that a pilot run of the revised Kindergarten to Grade 10 (K-10) curriculum for basic education will commence on September 25 in selected schools nationwide. This pilot program, MATATAG K-10, was introduced on August 10 and will involve 35 schools.

The MATATAG K-10 pilot program is set to start in just a few days, and it's exciting news for educators, parents, and students alike. The phased implementation of the new K-10 curriculum will begin with learners in Kinder, Grade 1, Grade 4, and Grade 7 in School Year (SY) 2024-2025, followed by Grades 2, 5, and 8 in SY 2025-2026, Grades 3, 6, and 9 in SY 2026-2027, and finally Grade 10 in SY 2027-2028.

The MATATAG K-10 program results from years of collaboration and consultation with stakeholders, including educators, parents, and students. DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones states that the new curriculum "is designed to be more relevant, responsive, and attuned to the needs of 21st-century learners."
