July 10-14, 2023
The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued guidelines for the conduct of End-of-School-Year (EOSY) rites for the academic year 2022-2023. The theme for this year's ceremonies is "K to 12 Graduates: Molded through a Resilient Educational Foundation." The guidelines aim to ensure that the rites are conducted in a meaningful and appropriate manner.
Here are the key points:
1. Moving up or graduation rites ceremonies should not be used as political forums. This is in accordance with Department Order No. 48, series of 2018.
2. DepEd personnel are prohibited from collecting any contribution or graduation/moving up fee from students or parents.
3. It is recommended that students wear casual or formal attire, or their school uniform during the ceremony. They may also wear togas or sablays as additional attire.
4. Private schools may follow the provisions stated in Department Order No. 09, series of 2023, regarding the conduct of moving up and graduation ceremonies.
Important Reminders:
- Each school may set a specific date for the EOSY rites, but it should not be earlier than July 10 or later than July 14, 2023.
- The moving up and graduation ceremonies should be simple yet meaningful.
- Attendance in field trips, film showings, JS Promenade, and similar activities should not be required for graduation or completion.
- For the awarding of honors to students from Grade 1 to 12, the guidelines stated in Department Order No. 36, series of 2016, or the Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition for K to 12 Basic Education Program, should be followed.
These guidelines aim to promote a smooth and inclusive EOSY rites experience for students, ensuring that the ceremonies uphold the integrity of the educational process.
