Work sispension on April 5 applies to Executive branch only - Malacañang
The Palace clarified that the half-day work suspension on April 5 only pertains to the Executive branch, as stated in Memorandum Circular No. 16 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
This was confirmed by Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil, who cited the memo as the basis for the clarification.
"The Palace clarified on Friday that Memorandum Circular No. 16 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. only applies to the executive department," said Garafil in a statement.
Accorfing to the memorandum the suspension was implemented to give government employees ample time to observe the regular holidays on April 6-7, 2023 and to allow them to travel to different regions in the country.
