CSC: 4-day work week in gov't agencies is now permanent

Even after the COVID-19 outbreak, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said that government agencies would permanently adopt a 4-day workweek schedule.

The CSC consulted academics and other agencies, such as the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the National Privacy Commission, on the new work arrangement, according to Commissioner Aileen Lizada.

Aside from a four-day workweek, Lizada said the commission is considering different employment arrangements, such as a work-from-home scheme.

According to a previous memorandum from the agency, government workers must work for 10 hours under the 4-day work week scheme.

The CSC is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, April 5, to finalize the target date of the new  4-day work arrangement, Lizada added.
