The Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed 11 additional cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines. This brings the total number of cases to 33.



Several schools and areas announced class suspensions for Wednesday, March 11 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the first case of local transmission of COVID-19 which raised the alert level of the outbreak to Code Red level 1.

President Rodrigo Duterte declared a nationwide state of public health emergency due to the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to increase.

COVID-19 Alert System to Code Red – Sub-level 1 means that there is anticipation of “possible sustained community transmission” of the disease.
