DICT Rolls Out 'Bayanihan SIM' Project: Free 25GB Monthly Data for Students and Teachers

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched the "Bayanihan SIM Card Project." The initiative, part of the national government's "Bagong Pilipinas" agenda, aims to provide free mobile connectivity to public school stakeholders nationwide.

The primary goal of the project is to ensure continuous access to digital learning materials and online research tools for those who need them most.

As highlighted on the SIM card packaging, the government is offering a substantial connectivity package. Beneficiaries of the Bayanihan SIM will receive free data for 1 year, with a monthly allocation of 25 GB. This allowance is designed to support the sustained online data needs of learners and educators throughout the academic calendar.

The DICT has identified public school students and teachers as the primary beneficiaries of this initiative. Secondary beneficiaries include households enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The project targets Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) across the country. By focusing on these locations, the DICT aims to directly address the persistent challenge of limited or entirely lacking internet infrastructure that hinders educational opportunities in remote communities.

By distributing these data-loaded SIM cards, the DICT asserts its commitment to ensuring that "no Filipino learner is left behind in the digital age," empowering communities through improved access to information and educational resources.
