Here are the indicators for each of the Classroom Observation Tool rating sheets for Teachers 2-7.
Teacher 2 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 2 applicant has the following indicators:• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. This indicator assesses the teacher's mastery of the subject matter and their ability to connect it to other subjects.
• Apply a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher-order thinking skills. This measures the teacher's use of diverse instructional methods that encourage students to think deeply and creatively.
• Maintain supportive learning environments that nurture and inspire learners to participate, cooperate and collaborate in continued learning. This evaluates the teacher's ability to create a positive classroom atmosphere where students feel safe to engage and work together.
• Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners' gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences. This focuses on the teacher's skill in tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
• Use strategies for providing timely, accurate and constructive feedback to improve learner performance. This assesses the teacher's effectiveness in giving feedback that helps students understand their mistakes and improve their work.
Teacher 3 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 3 applicant has the following indicators:• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. (Same as Teacher 2)
• Use effective verbal and non-verbal classroom communication strategies to support learner understanding, participation, engagement and achievement. This indicator assesses the teacher's ability to use both spoken and body language effectively to support student learning.
• Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners' gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences. (Same as Teacher 2)
• Establish a learner-centered culture by using teaching strategies that respond to their linguistic, cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds. This focuses on the teacher's skill in creating a culturally responsive classroom environment.
• Plan, manage and implement developmentally sequenced teaching and learning processes to meet curriculum requirements and varied teaching contexts. This measures the teacher's ability to create well-structured lesson plans that are appropriate for the students' developmental levels and the specific teaching environment.
Teacher 4 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 4 applicant has the following indicators:• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. (Same as previous teachers)
• Display proficient use of Mother Tongue, Filipino and English to facilitate teaching and learning. This indicator is specific to the language of instruction and evaluates the teacher's proficiency in using multiple languages to support students.
• Manage classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in groups, in meaningful exploration, discovery and hands-on activities within a range of physical learning environments. This assesses the teacher's ability to organize the classroom space and activities to promote active learning.
• Establish a learner-centered culture by using teaching strategies that respond to their linguistic, cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds. (Same as Teacher 3)
• Use strategies for providing timely, accurate and constructive feedback to improve learner performance. (Same as Teacher 2)
Teacher 5 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 5 applicant has the following indicators:
• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. (Same as previous teachers)
• Ensure the positive use of ICT to facilitate the teaching and learning process. This indicator evaluates the teacher's skill in integrating technology into their lessons to enhance student learning.
• Maintain learning environments that promote fairness, respect and care to encourage learning. This focuses on the teacher's ability to create a respectful and caring classroom culture.
• Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners' gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences. (Same as previous teachers)
• Select, develop, organize and use appropriate teaching and learning resources, including ICT, to address learning goals. This assesses the teacher's ability to effectively choose and use a variety of resources, including technology, to achieve lesson objectives.
Teacher 6 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 6 applicant has the following indicators:• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. (Same as previous teachers)
• Apply a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher-order thinking skills. (Same as Teacher 2)
• Manage learner behavior constructively by applying positive and non-violent discipline to ensure learning-focused environments. This indicator evaluates the teacher's approach to classroom management, emphasizing positive and non-violent methods.
• Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners' gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences. (Same as previous teachers)
• Plan, manage and implement developmentally sequenced teaching and learning processes to meet curriculum requirements and varied teaching contexts. (Same as Teacher 3)
Teacher 7 Applicant
The rating sheet for the Teacher 7 applicant has the following indicators:• Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas. (Same as previous teachers)
• Apply a range of successful strategies that maintain learning environments that motivate learners to work productively by assuming responsibility for their own learning. This indicator assesses the teacher's ability to create a motivating environment where students take ownership of their learning.
• Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners' gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences. (Same as previous teachers)
• Select, develop, organize and use appropriate teaching and learning resources, including ICT, to address learning goals. (Same as Teacher 5)
• Use strategies for providing timely, accurate and constructive feedback to improve learner performance. (Same as Teacher 2 and 4)
In addition to the standard indicators, all rating sheets include indicators for:
• (Madrasah) Establish a learner-centered culture by using teaching strategies that respond to their linguistic, cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
• (SNED) Design, adapt and implement teaching strategies that are responsive to learners with disabilities, giftedness and talents.
• (Difficult Circumstances) Plan and deliver teaching strategies that are responsive to the special educational needs of learners in difficult circumstances, including: geographic isolation; chronic illness; displacement due to armed conflict; urban resettlement or disasters; child abuse and child labor practices1.
• (IPED) Adapt and use culturally appropriate teaching strategies to address the needs of learners from indigenous groups.
These additional indicators highlight the Department of Education's emphasis on inclusive and culturally sensitive teaching practices to cater to diverse student populations and specific contexts.
