Transition Period for the Compliance of CPD Requirement

Transition Period for the Compliance of CPD Requirement

Manila, December 28, 2023 - The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has issued Memorandum Order No. 98, Series of 2023, outlining a transition period for the compliance of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement.

Under the CPD Act of 2016, CPD compliance is mandatory for the renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PICs), and CPD Undertaking will not be accepted starting January 1, 2024, as per PRC Resolution No. 1577 (s. 2022).

The transition period for CPD compliance will be as follows:

- 2024: 15 CPD Credit Units (CUs) required per year
- 2025: 20 CPD CUs required per year
- 2026: 30 CPD CUs required per year
- 2027 and onwards: 45 CPD CUs required per year

During the transition period from December 2023 to January 2024, it's important to note that the transaction date for PIC renewal will be the date of payment, not the date of the appointment to claim the PIC. Additionally, e-PIC can only be accessed if professionals fulfill all PIC renewal requirements, including a Certificate of Good Standing from the Accredited Integrated Professional Organization if required and CPD compliance.

The reckoning period for CPD compliance will be a maximum of six (6) years before the date of the PIC renewal transaction. Professionals can present their CPD compliance through the manual presentation of certificates to verify the date/s of conduct or a screenshot from their Continuing Professional Development Accreditation System (CPDAS) account showing their earned CUs.

This order is effective immediately and aims to ensure compliance with CPD requirements.
