DepEd to launch revised K to 10 Curriculum in August

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10 will be launched next month as part of its learning recovery efforts. The announcement was made by DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa, who outlined the department's "concrete steps" toward educational enhancement.

The revised K to 10 curriculum is set to be implemented in the School Year (SY) 2024-2025. Undersecretary Poa emphasized the need for proper learning resources, such as textbooks, before rolling out the new curriculum. "We will be launching it to show to the public what was changed," Poa said in an interview.

In addition to the K to 10 curriculum changes, the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum review is still underway. A national task force has been established to work according to a timeline. DepEd hopes to complete the SHS curriculum review within a year, but Undersecretary Poa acknowledged that various factors must be considered.

The announcement of the revised K to 10 curriculum was also discussed during the post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions on July 26. The Kindergarten to Grade 10 review was completed first, while the Grades 11 and 12 reviews are still in progress.

This move by DepEd is seen as a significant step towards modernizing the country's education system and aligning it with global standards. The revised curriculum is expected to address current educational challenges and provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary for the 21st century.

The community of educators, parents, and students eagerly awaits the unveiling of the revised curriculum, as it promises to bring positive changes to the Philippine education landscape.
