DepEd Order: No more INSET during sembreak of learners

The Department of Education has already removed the yearly In-Service Training (INSET) for Teachers schedule during the Midyear-Break this School Year (SY 2021-2022.

Students in the basic education level in public schools nationwide will have their semestral break starting Monday, January 31, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).

Based on the DepEd Order No. 029 s. 2021 or DepEd School Calendar and Activities for School Year (SY) 2021-2022, the Mid-year break is scheduled from January 31 to February 5. The week-long break takes place after the Second Quarter.

Unlike the previous years, the INSET for teachers was included in DepEd's School Calendar and Activities and scheduled during learners' midyear break or semestral break.

This school year, the INSET is not anymore included in the DepEd School Calendar and Activities.

Last year, the midyear INSET for SY 2020-2021 was on time with the midyear break, also for INSET for SY 2019-2020 and SY 2018-2019.

Previous schedules of INSET:
2018-2019 October 22-26

2019-2020 October 21-25

2020-2021 - December 14-18
2021-2022- INSET is not included in DepEd School Calendar and Activities

However, it is stated that the first two days of the five-day mid-year break may be spent to evaluate the school's progress attained in the implementation of the educational programs, projects, and activities (PPAs), as well as to review the performance of teachers and the school staff in order to address concerns through collaborative effort. The last three days MAY BE devoted for the conduct of the School-based In-Service Training (INSET) activities for the teachers' continued professional development and the preparation of their Instructional Materials (IMS).
