Public school teachers to undergo training on teaching Mandarin

According to the Department of Education, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed for the joint training of public school teachers for Master of Arts in Education, Major in Chinese Language Teaching (MAEd CLT).



Three hundred (300) public school teachers will undergo training on teaching Mandarin as part of the memorandum of agreement signed between the DepEd and Confucius Institute.

MAEd CLT scholars will undergo to this two-year master’s degree program that will include studying in China for six months to enhance their language proficiency and their pedagogical skills in teaching Chinese Mandarin as a foreign language, according to the DepEd.


This program will be implemented by the Angeles University Foundation of the Philippines and Fujian Normal University of China.

During the signing of the agreement, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said that proficiency in language is an indicator of quality education.

“This program is also in support of the efforts of the department in uplifting the quality of education in the Philippines,” Briones stressed.
